Company History

Advance was founded in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1984 by a small group of investors including Doug Kee, Gerry van Wachem and Ray Hicton, who possessed extensive industry experience in trailer manufacturing and service operations. Advance quickly focused on those core elements essential in building a successful company. The vision of the founding partners was to build “state of the art” truck tanks and trailers. To accomplish this, the company purchased the Regina manufacturing plant equipped with overhead cranes and industrial power supply and hand-picked industry experts for their production team to custom design and build “new concept” equipment critical to realizing their vision. The primary products produced at that time included petroleum and oilfield trailers, truck-mounted tanks, as well as insulated hot product units.

Since 1984, Advance Engineered Products Group has grown to become Canada’s premier manufacturer of tank trucks, trailers, and vacuum truck equipment. Driven by the principles of quality and continuous improvement (Kaizen, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing) processes, Advance strives to improve on those important principles to achieve unequalled value for our customers. The equipment we manufacture is built to work and it’s built to last – we don’t compromise on our quality, ever.

The Company’s head office is located in Regina, Saskatchewan, where the bulk of our manufacturing takes place. Other locations throughout Canada manufacture specific product lines and are also equipped to handle repairs to tank trucks. In order to offer this level of service, Advance is registered with the Department of Transport in Canada and the United States, as well as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for the manufacture and repair of coded tanks and vessels.

In addition to serving the global tank trailer and equipment market, the Advance Group of Companies include Westech Vac Systems (Nisku, Alberta), Dumur Industries (White City, Saskatchewan), and Lazer Inox (Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, Quebec).

The proven capabilities and quality of these companies complement the Advance Engineered Products Group’s reputation, for both engineering and manufacturing excellence. Repeat customers are a large part of Advance’s business. We think it’s because they understand value – from maintenance, to equipment longevity, to resale prices, Advance Group equipment outperforms!
